From De Plantage to Tuk Tropical Boutique Resort Jan Thiel
In September 2020 we, Merel and Louise, started the big adventure: the takeover of De Plantage. During the Covid period we were able to refurbish all houses, including new kitchens, floors, doors. After refurbishing the entire resort, we continued with the existing name De Plantage. Under this name we have already received many guests with great pleasure.
Two years later it was high time to change the name. From January 2023 we will continue as TUK Jan Thiel Tropical Boutique resort! Why now TUK? A fresh, short name that represents our Tropical Boutique Resort in Jan Thiel.
So now please.. Let us TUK you in.
Flamingos within walking distance!
The Flaming's on the salt pans of Jan Thiel are within walking distance of TUK Tropical Boutique Resort Jan Thiel. The hiking trail that goes through the wilderness and along the salt flats gives a serene feeling.
The salt pans were created as early as the 18th century. In the past, the seawater was led to the salt pans and closed off so that the water could evaporate and salt remained. This salt was traded to different countries. The salt pans are no longer used to extract salt, but it has remained intact so that the salt flats are still clearly visible. The salt flat also connects Jan Thiel to Mambo Beach.
The flamingo is a frequent guest on the salt pans. The salt water on the salt pans attracts brine shrimp, this is the favorite food of the flamingos to which they owe their beautiful pink color. In addition to flamingos, you can also spot many other birds and animals that live there, a real paradise for bird watchers.
The fact that this breathtaking piece of nature is just across the street from us is of course fantastic!
TIP: Get out early, because that's when the temperature is most pleasant.
